The department of conservative dentistry and endodontics ever since its inception, it has been growing and expanding.We, the conservative dentist and endodontists, work with dental pulp, the core of the tooth and similar to our discipline, it has been our constant endeavour to encourage the development of the college, working has the core member of the team.
Our department has been designed to satisfy the needs of those who wish to acquire greater skills, knowledge and experience in endodontics, as well as a background in biological sciences. Aesthetic dentistry wins the heart of patients by integrating art and science of dentistry with the beauty of what is natural through smile design, ceramic veneers, crowns, bleaching and tooth coloured restorations.
Conservative dentistry emphasises on the modern principles of dentistry, which states “prevention of extension”. Operative and restorative dentistry is practiced integrating with adhesive techniques. Students are taught basic principles with emphasis on latest advancements.
Quality work is expected and stressed on. The department is at par with the most advanced technology and dental materials. Time and again, students and staff are encouraged to utilise the facilities.
These include dental operating microscope, all the generations of electronic apex locators, radiovisiography unit, electrocautery unit and obturating systems. Further, it is well equipped with recent restorative materials and endodontic rotary systems. Ultrasonic equipment and instrument retrieval systems are available as well.
The department has a separate surgical room, well equipped with an operating microscope. Minor surgical instruments are available along with a DSLR camera for intra oral photography. The four pillars of our department are academics, clinical skills, technology and most important is research. The staff members and students are actively involved in various research activities and publications.
The faculty trains the undergraduate student in the subjects of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics as part of their B.D.S. curriculum. Upon graduation, the students are expected to be capable of assessing a patient’s general and oral health and of formulating a comprehensive treatment plan, which might include components from other dental disciplines.
The course will enable the student to acquire knowledge of the relevant clinical literature, to develop a scientific approach to solving problems. The course contains didactic, practical & clinical components, and taught to a high standard. The course will provide a foundation for successful clinical practice, or a stepping-stone toward an academic career.
A separate clinic for Endodontic surgery is also provided with dental operating microscope.
