Department of Public Health Dentistry

Public Health Dentistry is the science and art of preventing oral and Dental diseases and promoting oral and Dental health and general well-being among people of the community. The department of Public Health Dentistry is concerned with spreading Dental Health education at the community level, also by means of applied Dental research, administration of group Dental care programs and prevention and control of Dental diseases among school going children.

Public Health Dentist possess broad expertise and skills in research methods, program administration, prevention and control of diseases and provision of Dental care services for people of all ages within the community, including individuals who do not have access to proper health care facilities. This would include physically and mentally challenged people and otherwise underprivileged members of the community.

Department Activities

Also, we coordinate and participate in teaching the practice to students, teachers, health educators, dietician, nurses and prospective doctors towards building leadership and expertise in

  • Oral Health Surveillance
  • Population based Dentistry
  • Policy Development
  • Community based disease prevention
  • Assuring optimal oral health across individuals and population
  • Creating Awareness among public but conducting group health education programs.
