General Human Physiology

Human physiology is the study of the mechanical, physical, and biochemical functions of normal human organs, experimental physiology, cellular functions and clinical applications. It is mainly concerned with mechanisms of the human body which help in adaptation and homeostasis.

Mission

The mission of the Department of Physiology is providing a spectrum of comprehensive knowledge in the field of Physiology and service of the highest quality to students including research activities.

Objectives

1. Understand and describe normal functions of the all organs of the body at the bio molecular level
2. Understand and describe the functional interactions of various organs and their regulatory mechanisms.
3. Integrate these learnt subjects to practice of clinical aspects.

Physiology Curriculum

The Curriculum and syllabus designed by The Dr.MGR Medical University and Dental council of India is followed in our college.

Physiology curriculum includes general physiology, various systems like blood and body fluids, Nerve muscle physiology, gastrointestinal system, endocrine system, excretory system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, reproductive system central nervous system and special senses. In practical, the curriculum is designed as haematology experiments and basic clinical experiments.

Our students receive training in both theory and practical physiology. We also teach the students about the applied aspects of physiology which will help them to enhance their knowledge of pathophysiology and apply the knowledge in clinical subjects.

Apart from regular theory & practical classes we are following innovative teaching and learning methodologies like small group discussion, student seminar, role play, integrated lectures. They have the opportunity to indulge in research activities. They are also encouraged to participate in conferences.

Facilities

  • A well-equipped laboratory
  • Separate demonstration hall for practical
