REPORT ON YOGA & ITS PRACTICAL AWARENESS

Meditation is relaxation and rejuvenates the body and mind. On the occasion of “International yoga day” a workshop was organized between June 12 - 15. The students of the II, III, IV BDS were instructed to attend the yoga sessions.
Our respected director sir, Dr. Vijay. V.K, received a request from Ms. Selvi , yoga co-ordinator, Isha Yoga Foundation to conduct an elaborate yoga session in our college. The request was passed onto the students and faculty members about the workshops and awareness of the international yoga day.
On June 21, there was practical session conducted to celebrate the “International Yoga Day” The session began with a prayer song and Ms. Saroja, yoga instructor, & Mr. Chandrasekhar, Yoga volunteer, Institute of Inner science, Isha yoga foundation, inaugurated and addressed to all the participants about yoga and its importance in day- to- day life for physical and mental fitness of an individual.
The practical session began with an introduction to yoga and its awareness. The yoga trainer Mr . Naveen practically demonstrated various ‘asanas’ like yoga mudrasana, naadi suddhi, simple neck yogas and highlighted their benefits to human life. Thus, the session was useful and beneficial to all the participants. The event was coordinated by Dr. Kavitha, Head of the department, Department of Oral Pathology & Microbiology and Dr. Devipriya, Senior Lecturer, Department of Conservative & Endodontics. It was ended with vote of thanks.
