Pre Clinical Conservative

Conservative dentistry forms the backbone and foundation of clinical dentistry.

The department of pre clinical conservative dentistry is one of the most pivotal departments in moulding students for efficient clinical restorative treatments. This subject is introduced to the students of dentistry in the first year of the curriculum. In the second year of the course , the students are required to identify instruments and equipments, understand and manipulate the various dental materials, and perform certain preclinical plaster and typodont teeth exercises. They appear for a preclinical examination at the end of the second year before entering into the clinical work on patients in the third year.

Conservative dentistry emphasises on the modern principles of dentistry, which states “prevention of extension”. Operative and restorative dentistry is practiced integrating with adhesive techniques. Students are taught basic principles with emphasis on latest advancements.

Quality work is expected and stressed on. The department is at par with the most advanced technology and dental materials. Time and again, students and staff are encouraged to utilise the facilities.

The faculty trains the undergraduate student in the subjects of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics as part of their B.D.S. curriculum. Upon graduation, the students are expected to be capable of assessing a patient’s general and oral health and of formulating a comprehensive treatment plan, which might include components from other dental disciplines.

The course will enable the student to acquire knowledge of the relevant clinical literature, to develop a scientific approach to solving problems.
