The principle duty of the department is to teach the basic sciences regarding head & neck region. The subjects include oral histology, oral anatomy and tooth morphology. The main responsibility of this department is to collaborate closely with the clinical departments to develop unified teaching programs that encourage the use of basic science material in solving clinical problems.
Apart from lecture hours, they are encouraged to observe the histology slides during practical hours. The Department has adequate carving lab for tooth morphology classes. The department also has facilities for the demonstration of digital carving techniques and for the projection of slides digitally. Tooth models and bone models are also utilized for the discussion during practical hours. The department library includes all the books and journals related to oral biology.
