World Autism Awareness day plays a major role in nurturing a better society for people with Autism, the day is crucial in spreading information on autism disorder and eradicating the barriers and stereotypes concerning autism. The department of Pedodontics & Preventive dentistry, RVS Dental College & Hospital observed “World Autism Day - 2022” by an awareness & screening camp at STAR Special School, Ondipudur, emphasizing on the theme ”Inclusiveness”. To represent Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD), the color code for the program was the colors of the rainbow.
Oral & Dental screening was done for 60 Autistic & other special children’s along with awareness for dental diseases such as dental caries, gingivitis, anadontia, hyperplasia etc., were given by the doctors.
To spread dental awareness through visual aids, a SPECIAL – Drawing competition was organized for the children, who participated with great enthusiasm & joy. Kids toothpastes & mouth washes were distributed to special childrens, as a token of appreciation for participating in drawing competition.
The dental camp was graced by the presence of Dr.Mohan Gundappa(Director), Special guest Dr.Ranjana Mohan & Dr.Lt.Col.Ravi Shet(Principal).
The camp was well organised & conducted by Dr.Senthil Kumar(Professor), Dr.Madhumitha(Reader) & Dr.Priyankka(Senior Lecturer) with Interns & PG’s of the department of Pedodontics & Preventive dentistry.
