“Be Proud of Your Mouth" was the theme chosen for this year as part of the Oral Hygiene Day campaign launched by the World Dental Federation (FDI) in 2021. We the Department of Periodontology, RVS Dental College and Hospital, take extreme pleasure in organizing and conducting a free dental screening and scaling camp wherein Doctors and students of this institution take this opportunity as a great initiative for spreading oral hygiene awareness, oral health knowledge and oral hygiene practices towards the improvement and maintenance of gum health to the general public.The dental camp was inaugurated by Kalvithanthai Dr.K.V. Kuppusamy, Chairman of RVS Group of institutions and with the guidance of the Director of RVS Group of Institutions Dr.V.K.Vijay, the camp was taken forward by the Head of the Department of Periodontology Dr. Deepshika Saravanan, Reader Dr.M.Senthilkumar, Senior Lecturers Dr.N.Sakthi Ganesh, Dr.VinuSarangesh, Dr.Kanimozhi and Tutor Dr.Pradeepa.Pamphlets explaining the oral hygiene instructions were distributed to the general public.Doctors and students of this institution participated and made use of this golden opportunity for enriching knowledge and oral hygiene practices to improve the wellness of general public .A public notice was distributed to various places to notify and to encourage everyone to make use of this rare opportunity to maintain their oral health.The free scaling camp was inaugurated by the chief guest S.K.M.Shivakumaran, Joint Transport Commissioner, Coimbatore Zone, and Guests of Honour ER.S.Balachandran, Trustee, RVS Social Service Food Court Chief Engineer RVS Group of Institutions . All the honourable guests were welcomed by Dr.Vijay.V.K, Director of RVS Dental College and Hospital and Dr.Deepshika Saravanan ,Head of the Department of Periodontology. Inauguration of the free scaling camp started with a prayer song and lightning of the lamp by our chief guest S.K.M.Shivakumaran, Joint Transport Commissioner,Coimbatore Zone.
Dr.Deepshika Saravanan, Head ofthe Department of Periodontology welcomed the gathering and explained about the events that are going to be held.Dr.Vijay.V.K, Director of RVS Dental College and Hospitalinvited the chief guests, gathering .The free scaling camp was held from 9.30 AM to 4.00 PM, in all the departments with the support ofthe HOD and Staff co-ordinators.The students were very enthusiastic about participating in the free scaling camp.Overall, the free scaling camp was a grand success where we achieved double the number of patients that we targeted,with 512 patients being benefited.This celebration was part of a week-long campaign conducted for the oral hygiene day campaign. It was entered for the Global Records & Research Foundation (GRRF) and was awarded for performing free dental scaling for 512 patients on a single day.
