NATIONAL PERIODONTIST DAY CELEBRATION ON FEBRUARY 23RD 2024

The department of Periodontology, RVS Dental College & Hospital takes immense pleasure in celebrating National Periodontist Day wherein Doctors and students of this institution take this opportunity as a great initiative to promote and enhance the knowledge and science of Periodontology.
National Periodontist Day celebration was held on 23/02/2024 to commemorate the registration of the Indian Society of Periodontology as a non-profit organization in 1975 with the primary aim of promoting and enhancing the knowledge and science of Periodontology in India with this year’s theme being “SAY NO TO BLEEDING GUMS, ISP PINK HEALTH INITIATIVE”
The celebration started with the blessings of our beloved chairman Kalvithanthai Dr.K.V.Kupusamy Ayya, Chairman of RVS Group of Institutions, and with the guidance of the Director cum Principal, Dr.V.K.Vijay. The chief guest for the day was Dr.Swaminathan Rajendran, the chief implantologist, the program celebration was taken forward by Professor & Head, department of Periodontology Dr. Deepshika Saravanan, Reader Dr.M.Senthilkumar & Dr.N.Sakthi Ganesh, Senior Lecturers Dr. Vinu sarangesh, Dr. Kanimozhi, and Tutor Dr.Pratheeba.A. Postgraduate students Dr.J.Bhavadharani, Dr.S.Sivasarankuar, Dr.S.Sowmya, Dr.J.Alphonsa Nevi Roshini , Dr.U.S.Harita, Dr.A.R.Niroshini,Dr. Boopeshkumar,Dr. Jayasakti.S and Dr. Sumathy.K.
All the honorable guests were welcomed by Director cum Principal Dr.Vijay.V.K, and Dr.Deepshika Saravanan, Head of the Department of Periodontology
The importance of maintaining Periodontal health was inculcated to the general public through a “Rally” which was also inaugurated by Director cum Principal, Dr.Vijay V.K on 23/02/2024 , Pamphlets regarding oral health maintenance were distributed to the general public by interns and postgraduate students.
The Department of Periodontology took charge of the whole event where we had conducted various online competitions to enlighten the essence of National Periodontist Day like Reels, Slogan writing based on this year’s theme “SAY NO TO BLEEDING GUMS,ISP PINK HEALTH INITIATIVE”, Rangoli competition was conducted in the same theme where various hidden talents were displayed.
Students from I year B.D.S to interns, PG’s participated in these events with much enthusiasm. Oral health maintenance was explained to the patients using various models and demonstrations by our interns and postgraduate students. Periodontal treatment motivation was given using motivational videos.
We have a new beginning to our digital adventure, a medium to connect more visually and vibrantly, we embark on this voyage with commitment, authenticity, creativity, and engagement.
We have launched the PERIOGRAM, in the Department of Periodontology. The academic toppers and the winners of various events were felicitated by the staffs.
There was a ceremony at the end of the day to thank all the staff by Dr. Sakhtiganesh, Reader. Later, the guest speaker gave a lecture on “CLINICAL PERIODONTOLOGY-SCOPES AND AVENUES” to the interns.
The afternoon session was followed by an awareness rally and flashmob, in the Sulur area by the department of periodontology. Pamphlets about oral hygiene and toothpaste samples were distributed, free scaling camp was announced to the general public for four days.
The lecture was given by the guest speaker Dr.Swaminathan sir about “IMMEDIATE IMPLANTS” to all the post graduates followed by demonstration of cases.
The staff and students of the department were awarded with certificate of appreciation to appreciate their effort, by Dr.Deepshika Saravanan
