BASIC LIFE SUPPORT WORKSHOP

A one day workshop on BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) was conducted by Mr.LEO.S M.Sc(N) and his team(Target Institute of Medical Educational Sciences) on 6th MARCH 2024 at RVS Dental College & Hospital, Sulur under the supervision of Dr.Kavitha(HOD,Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology) and Dr.Maneesha(Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery). Our respected Director cum Principal Dr.Vijay V.K inaugurated the workshop with his address on National Dentist Day.
Around 124 students, which included Interns and Post graduates attended the session.The program started around 10.00am with a description about BLS and its importance followed by a demonstration on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with rescue breaths on adults. The use of automated external defibrillator (AED) during cardiac emergencies was also shown. Additionally, ‘HANDS ON’ Session was conducted on mannequins where all the students actively participated to learn the above techniques. Post lunch session resumed with lectures on BLS on infants and children. Importance and uses of AMBU Bags, management of MEDICAL EMERGENCIES such as CHOKING in adults and infants was delivered. The program ended around 3:30pm with a questionnaire on BLS.
